Collegiality, Conviviality and Conversation:

DACD2019 provided a much needed opportunity to meet with fellow PhD researchers and learn of the diversity of research in Coventry University’s Doctoral College.  As a PhD researcher with the centre for Global Learning Education and Attainment, just completing my first year, I get so immersed in my books and writing that I don’t often enough look up and pitch my thoughts to others.  Attending DCAD2019, explaining my research on International Postgraduate student learning confidence in a 2 minute poster pitch and sharing the joys and tribulations of the PhD process with so many other PhD researchers has been energising.  The conference as given me a much needed opportunity to look up from my books, talk to fellow researchers and receive advice and inspiration for my writing and research.  I now can’t wait to get started on finishing my literature review and moving forward into my primary data collection.  To all the amazing PhD researchers I met at DCAD2019  – we can do this!  To my Director of Studies, Prof Dr Katherine Wimpenny, huge congratulations on being awarded the Outstanding Research Supervisor Team Award and to the DCAD2019 team, thank you for bringing everyone together in collegiality, conviviality and conversation.
